Event Details

[vc_row][vc_column width="1/2"][vc_column_text]The Museum of Broken Relationships is a collaborative travelling exhibition of objects that represent relationships that are wished to leave behind. Far from encouraging the feeling of sadness, the exhibition gives people the opportunity to tell their story and start a new, fresh and vital stage through a creative act of detachment: donating their objects to the collection of this Museum. Regardless of the reason for offering these personal items, be it simple exhibitionism, therapeutic relief or simple curiosity, people have embraced the idea of displaying their love as a legacy, a type of ritual, a solemn ceremony. Our society has rites to commemorate many aspects of life: birth, marriage, funerals, even graduations, but there is no formal recognition of the end of a relationship, despite its great emotional impact. In the words of Roland Barthes in Excerpts from a Love Speech: “Every passion, finally, has its viewer…. (there is no) love oblation without a final theater". Conceptualized in Croatia by Olinka Vištica and Dražen Grubišić, the Museum of Broken Relationships has toured the world and, as it passes through each destination, has been enriched with the taste and texture of local culture, and at the same time with universal feelings that make up this extraordinary set of memories of people with a broken heart, eager to leave a testimony of their biography and move on. The exhibition inspires the personal search for inner power and strengthen the belief in something more meaningful than fortuitous suffering. The exhibition was presented from March 12 to June 8, 2014[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width="1/2"][gsf_gallery layout_style="thumbnail" image_size="full" image_ratio="custom" columns="6" columns_md="4" columns_sm="3" columns_xs="3" columns_mb="3" el_class="galeria-expos" images="31907,31905,31901,31903,31899,31897,31895,31893,31891,31889"][/vc_column][/vc_row]
