The Museum
A MUSEUM IN THE HEART OF THE ROMA DISTRICT IN MEXICO CITY, WHERE TEMPORARY EXHIBITIONS CREATE INTERESTING, STIMULATING AND FUN EXPERIENCES.
ABOUT US
Have you ever observed an object and wondered about its life and the lives of the people who used it? Have you ever wondered who imagined, designed and produced it? How did a can of soup, the photo of the funeral of a dead child or the twelve wigs of a famous vedette end up in a museum?
What do objects tell us when we look at them and ask them the right questions?
MODO, The Purpose of the Object Museum, opened in 2010, and since then has told stories through artifacts that have accompanied daily life in our country for over 200 years. Using the more than 140 thousand objects of its collection, the museum has made a historical review of Mexico since the beginning of the 19th century: cultural, aesthetic and social movements, technological development, trends and changes in ways of thinking and of relating to the world.
Valuable and brave objects are grouped by themes and displayed in temporary exhibitions in order to show and live those special moments that, through love and nostalgia, are stored in the memory of many of us.
In these exhibitions, you will be able to know fascinating stories that have remained jealously guarded in a large number of objects, some very common, others quite rare, some more with important historical value, but all of them, make up the testimony of Mexico´s culture and life.
