{"id":33916,"date":"2023-06-05T09:52:39","date_gmt":"2023-06-05T15:52:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/elmodo.mx\/en\/expo\/el-museo-de-las-relaciones-rotas-2\/"},"modified":"2023-06-05T10:12:20","modified_gmt":"2023-06-05T16:12:20","slug":"el-museo-de-las-relaciones-rotas-2","status":"publish","type":"ajde_events","link":"https:\/\/elmodo.mx\/en\/expo\/el-museo-de-las-relaciones-rotas-2\/","title":{"rendered":"The Museum Of Broken Relationships"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wpb-content-wrapper\">[vc_row][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_column_text el_class=&#8221;&#8221;]<strong>The Museum of Broken Relationships<\/strong>\u00a0grew from a travelling exhibition revolving around the concept of lost relationships and their remains, offering the chance to overcome an emotional collapse through creation: by contributing to the museum\u2019s collection.<\/p>\n<p>Conceptualized in Croatia in 2006 by Olinka Vi\u0161tica and Dra\u017een Grubi\u0161i\u0107, the Museum has since toured internationally, holding 59 exhibitions in 34 countries, simultaneously creating an ever evolving, community-built collection that challenges our ideas about heritage.<\/p>\n<p>Whatever the motivation for donating personal belongings \u2013 be it sheer exhibitionism, therapeutic relief, or simple curiosity \u2013 people embrace the idea of exhibiting their emotional legacy as a sort of ritual, a solemn ceremony.<\/p>\n<p>Our societies oblige us with marriages, funerals, and even graduation farewells, but deny us any formal recognition of the demise of a relationship, despite its strong emotional effect. In the words of Roland Barthes in A Lover\u2019s Discourse: \u201cEvery passion, ultimately, has its spectator\u2026 (there is) no amorous oblation without a final theatre.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The objects and stories exhibited at MODO are a selection of the donations received in Mexico, along with others collected previously all over the world.
